The rim of this banjo may have been a Vega Little Wonder upgraded with a Whyte Laydie tone ring and figured maple veneers. The neck was made by John Greven in the 1970s. Mr. Greven is well known for his fine guitars: www.grevenguitars.com .The Fairbanks style inlays are wonderfully engraved and the detailed heel carving is beautiful. The neck is a little wider at the nut, which makes noting easier, and the extra wood gives the banjo great sustain. This banjo has the deep old time sound favored by modern players.
